Brampton Beast Celebrate a Goal vs. the Kalamazoo Wings

BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - There was no stopping the potent Brampton Beast offense on Sunday afternoon as the team found its scoring touch in a big way exploding for seven goals en route to a huge 7-3 win over the Kalamazoo Wings at the Powerade Centre.
Luke Pither and Nick McParland each had a goal and two assists while Chris Auger had a pair of goals and an assist to help the Beast to their first win of 2016.
For the first time this weekend against Kalamazoo, the Beast were the first to find the back of the net as Pither found himself streaking in on the left wing side and sent a perfect wrist shot into the top corner for a 1-0 lead at 11:19 of the first period.
The Beast held that lead through 20 minutes before erupting for three goals in the second period.
Chris Auger made it 2-0 just 2:31 into the second frame, tapping a rebound behind K-Wings goaltender Joel Martin for a two-goal lead.
David Gilbert cut the Beast lead to 2-1 with a shorthanded tally at 6:41 but the relentless Beast attack would not be denied for long.
Angelo Miceli followed up on a great play from Nick McParland and pounced on a loose puck in the slot and beat Martin with a hard shot at 11:23.
The K-Wings' Colin Murray kept the game close for the time being with a goal at 17:30, but the high-octane Beast forwards wouldn't have to wait long to get that one back.
Jeff Brown and his teammates were attacking the net hard in front of Joel Martin. The goaltender was able to kick out several saves but once the puck escaped the crowd in front, Brown was in a perfect position to net his ninth goal of the season with 1:51 remaining in the second to give the Beast a 4-2 edge heading into the final frame.
The Beast kept rolling in the third period as Luke Pither found a wide-open McParland on an odd-man rush and he netted his first as a member of the Beast with a perfect shot that tumbled over Martin's pad at 6:51.
The Beast smelled victory with the 5-2 lead and continued their relentless pressure. Auger got his second of the night on the power play at 8:17 as Travis Brown teed up a heavy point shot. Auger got his stick on the puck and deflected it behind the goaltender for his team-leading thirteenth goal of the season.
Reggie Traccitto added a shorthanded empty-netter from inside the Beast zone in the final minute of play for a 7-2 lead.
Murray scored his second of the game with 20 seconds left in the contest for Kalamazoo but it was too little for too late as the Beast rolled to victory.
Trevor Cann played his best game of the weekend and earned the win with a big 32-save performance. Joel Martin made 29 saves in a losing effort.
Notes: The Beast went 1-for-4 on the power play and were a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
The Beast are now on the road for the remainder of the month and return to the Powerade Centre on January 31 to host the Wheeling Nailers at 2:00 PM.
