Last Game

Joe Perry had a hat trick and an assist to propel the Komets to a 7-4 victory over the host Mallards Friday night.

Drop

With Friday's win the Midwest Division-leading Komets stretched their lead over the Mallards to three points. The Mallards are now tied for second place with the Cincinnati Cyclones, who earned one point for an overtime loss to Norfolk last night. Fort Wayne has four games in hand on the Mallards.

Skid

The Mallards have lost back-to-back games and six of their last seven.

Home Sweet Home?

The Mallards have tied a team record by losing four straight home games in regulation. This is the fourth time in team history the Mallards have suffered four consecutive home regulation defeats. The Mallards last dropped four in a row at home in the United Hockey League between November 12 and November 25, 2006.

Onslaught

The Mallards Friday gave up more goals than they have in any game since dropping an 8-5 Central Hockey League decision to the Bloomington Blaze on March 12, 2013.

Red Light District

The Mallards have given up four or more goals in three straight games for the first time this season and have allowed a total of 15 goals during that stretch.

Foursome

Friday night marked the first time this season the Mallards have lost in regulation when scoring at least four goals. They have now gone 8-1-1 when scoring four or more.

Shooting Gallery

The Mallards have been outshot in each of their last four games and seven of their last eight. They have allowed at least 34 shots in each of their last four games and eight of their last nine.

Between the Pipes

Brody Hoffman made 32 saves while suffering the loss Friday and has now faced at least 38 shots in each of his last four starts.

Austin Coldwell had a goal and an assist Friday and has piled up six points (one goal and five assists) in just his last three games.

Five Spot

After collecting two assists Friday, Ryan Tesink has now recorded five points (one goal and four assists) in his last three games.

Many Happy Returns

Four Mallards returned to the lineup Friday after time out due to injury: forwards Matt Carey, Tanner Eberle and Kevin Henderson and defenseman Kevin Gibson. Each of the returning forwards recorded points. Henderson scored his first Mallard goal, Carey also scored and Eberle picked up an assist.

Iron Mike

Mike Monfredo recorded his twentieth assist Friday. Monfredo is tied for second among ECHL defensemen in assists, is tied for third among defensemen in points (23) and is tied for ninth overall in assists.

Special Teams

The Mallards and Komets both scored once on the power play Friday. The Mallards rank fifth in the ECHL in penalty killing (86.6 percent) and twelfth in power play efficiency (18.4 percent).

Milestones

Monfredo Friday played his two hundred thirty-seventh career game for the Mallards to move past Kerry Toporowski into eleventh place in team history.

Head to Head

The Mallards and Komets have split their first two meetings of the season. The Komets today make their final visit of the campaign to the iWireless Center. The final four games of the season series will be played in Fort Wayne. All-time, the Mallards have gone 46-48-11 against Fort Wayne. The two teams competed against each other in the United, International and Central Leagues before reuniting in the ECHL last season.

Ins and Outs

Matt Carey (who missed one game with an upper body injury), Tanner Eberle (seven games, upper body), Kevin Gibson (ten games, upper body) and Kevin Henderson (15 games, upper body) returned to the Mallard lineup Friday. Gibson was activated from 21-day injured reserve Friday...Zach Pochiro (upper body), who has missed the Mallards' last five games, Friday was placed on 21-day injured reserve retroactive to December 28.
