Garbowsky and Kea Head to Rochester

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that forward Matt Garbowsky has been recalled by Rochester and forward Justin Kea has been reassigned by Buffalo to Rochester.

Garbowsky, 25, was loaned by Rochester to Elmira yesterday for the Jackals' game against the Manchester Monarchs. Garbowsky has recorded three points in six games with Elmira this season and has skated in 15 games with the Americans logging one assist. The St. George, Ont. native dressed for eight games with Rochester at the end of last season following the conclusion of his collegiate career at R.I.T. Garbowsky was a standout in college, posting 114 points (48 goals, 66 assists) in 128 NCAA games, while being named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award as a senior.

Kea, 21, returns to Rochester for his second stint with the Americans this season. The Woodville, Ont. native skated in six games with the Americans this season and added six points (four goals, two assists) in 17 games with Elmira. Kea split his first pro season between Elmira and Rochester logging 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in 35 games with the Jackals and recording two goals in 26 games with the Americans. Prior to turning pro, Kea played for the Saginaw Spirit in the OHL posting 117 points (51 goals, 66 assists) and 324 penalty minutes in 253 OHL games. The 6-foot-4 220-pound forward was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the third round (#73 overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
