THE MATCHUP
The South Carolina Stingrays finish a three-game weekend this afternoon as they battle the Reading Royals on the road. This marks South Carolina's first visit to Reading this season. The two teams opened the season with a pair of games at the North Charleston Coliseum in October with the Stingrays claiming a 2-1 win on October 17 and the Royals earning a 6-0 win the following day. South Carolina is coming off a 5-1 win Friday and a 4-2 loss Saturday in Adirondack. The Royals are coming off a 4-2 loss to Toledo on home ice last night.
HOT ROD-RIGUES
South Carolina forward Paul Rodrigues scored a pair of goals in last night's 4-2 loss at Adirondack. The forward has logged 12 points (seven goals, five assists) in just 19 games with the Stingrays. He is on-pace to set a career high in points. In 53 games last year with Greenville, Rodrigues scored 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists). The forward is in his second stint with South Carolina.
ROYAL CAMERON
Rookie forward Brett Cameron is second on the team with nine goals this season. A pair of his tallies came on Opening Night against the Royals on October 17. He scored both goals in the Stingrays 2-1 victory over the Royals and was named the game's First Star.
WELCOME TO THE DEXSHOW
Goaltender Mark Dekanich has been strong for the Stingrays all season, but the netminder has enjoyed an exceptional start to 2016. He is 2-1-0-0 in three starts this month, posting a sensational 1.68 goals-against average, and a .948 save percentage. Dekanich is among the league leaders in goals-against average with a 1.99 mark this season.
STAAL HITS 300
Today marks the 300th game in forward Jared Staal's professional career. The forward has three goals in his last seven games, and has skated in 232 AHL games, 65 ECHL games and 2 NHL games with the Carolina Hurricanes. In those contests, Staal played with his brothers, Eric and Jordan.
