The Alaska Aces took the early lead capitalizing on a penalty shot opportunity 3:19 into the first period. Justin Breton was tripped by Joe Stejskal on a breakaway to give the Aces their first penalty shot of the season. Gladiator's goaltender, Matt Ginn, initially saved the shot by the Massachusetts native but the puck continued to slide underneath Ginn and across the goal-line which gave the Aces the 1-0 lead. Breton notched his 12th goal and 20th point of the season on the tally.

After a scoreless second period, Alaska began the third frame with a 5-on-3 man advantage. The Aces increased their lead to 2-0 off of a Mitch Jones powerplay marker. Ginn saved the initial William Wrenn shot from the right point with his right pad but sent the puck directly to Jones in the slot who wristed it into the net from beyond the top of the crease. Wrenn and Peter Sivak were credited with assists on the British Columbia native's second goal of the year.

Matt Register cut the lead to 2-1 on a long point shot during a Gladiators 5-on-3 advantage at the 7:17 mark of the third period. Garry Nunn increased his team lead in assists as he passed to the defenseman waiting at the point who was able to blast the puck past Aces goaltender, Troy Redmann with a slap shot. Thomas Frazee claimed his 18th helper on the secondary assist leading to Register's fourth goal of the year.

The 2-1 score line stood as the Gladiators ultimately lost to Alaska after attempting to tie the game in the final minutes with a flurry of shots. The Atlanta Gladiators fell to 21-12-1-0 and remain at 42 points to stay in second place in the South Division and fifth in the Eastern Conference for the time being. The Alaska Aces improved to 12-18-1-3 and 28 points on the season, remaining in fifth place in the Western Division and 13th in the Western Conference.
