Owen Sound Attack News Release

OTTAWA - The Owen Sound Attack invaded the nations capital and took home a 6-3 win over the CHL's number three ranked Ottawa 67's on Saturday afternoon, extending their winning streak to five games.

Aidan Dudas led the way for the Attack with two goals and two assists, Kaleb Pearson had a goal and two assists, while Sean Durzi, Griffin Wilson and Kevin Hancock had two points a piece. Brady Lyle and Trent Bourque added goals, while Andrew MacLean turned away 31 of 34 shots for the win.

The Attack opened the first period with some spirited play and were able to find the back of the quickly when Carter Robertson found Kaleb Pearson breaking up the ice as the 67's made a line change. Pearson had all kinds of time and buried it past Cedrick Adnree to make it 1-0. Unfortunately, just two minutes later Tye Felhaber was able to even the score for the 67's when he snuck behind the Attack defence in the neutral zone and stole the loose puck, then lifted it over a sprawling Andrew MacLean on the breakaway. This started the rain of teddy bears at TD Place.

After a seven minute delay play continued and it was the Attack who seemed to have the momentum generating opportunities. Just before the mid-period break Dudas used his speed to force 67's defenceman Quinn Yule into a holding penalty. Not 30 seconds later Brady Lyle was tripped up at the blueline sending the Attack to a two-player advantage. Shortly after Sean Durzi walked the line and slid the puck back to Dudas who made a small move and roofed it past Andree to make it 2-1 for the Attack. 30 seconds later the Attack got their second powerplay goal of the night when a point shot from Lyle made it through a Daylon Groulx screen to make it 3-1 for the Attack and that is how the period would end.

The second 20 minutes saw play open up with both teams generating numerous opportunities in each others end. The Attack were able to kill off a couple of penalties and continued their strong play on the power play. It wasn't until late in the period that either team was able to find the back of the net. It was the Attack who once again were able to capitalize on a power play opportunity when Sean Durzi blasted a pass from Kevin Hancock past Andree to make it 4-1 for the Attack.

The Ottawa 67's came out with a vengeance in the third period hemming the Attack in their own end for the majority of the period. It only took 48 seconds for Ottawa to cut the lead by one, when Noel Hoefenmeyer found the back of the net to cut the Attack lead to 4-2. That Attack weathered the storm and finally got a chance when Jackson Doherty was hit hard into the boards in the 67's end, the puck bounced out to Trent Bourque at the point and he blasted it home to restore the three goal lead.

Right after the 67's applied a ton of pressure resulting in a shot from the point that Mitchell Hoelscher tipped home to once again cut the Attack lead to two, this time with seven and half minutes to play. The Attack weathered the storm the remainder of the game and it was Aidan Dudas who found the empty net to restore the Attack lead to three for one last time, finishing the game with a 6-3 win.

The Attack now get a much deserved break over Christmas and will return to action Saturday, December 29th when they play host to the Kitchener Rangers starting at 7:30pm at the Bayshore. They will close out 2018 on the road with a New Years Eve tilt with the Barrie Colts.

The entire Owen Sound Attack organization would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy Holiday Season.

This season of Attack hockey is presented by Lerners Personal Injury Lawyers.
