
Beard To Miss Season Opener

Washington, D.C. - Washington Mystics General Manager Linda Hargrove announced today that Alana Beard will miss the first game of the 2008 season. Washington will travel to Indiana to take on the Fever. Beard sustained the injury while playing in Poland during the off-season.
"Alana is obviously a very important part of our roster and we want to take every precaution possible to ensure that she has a very productive 2008 WNBA season" said Hargrove.
Washington went undefeated in preseason games for the 2008 campaign. The Mystics defeated the Sacramento Monarchs 90-82, New York Liberty 58-52 and the Houston Comets 72-66.
The Washington Mystics will tip off the 2008 season on Saturday, May 17th, on the road against the Indiana Fever. Washington will host the club's home opener on Sunday, May 25th, against the four-time WNBA Champion Houston Comets at 4:00 p.m. Individual tickets are currently on sale on www.ticketmaster.com.
