Beach Bums Win 2-1
July 10, 2015 - Frontier League (FL)
Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
CRESTWOOD, IL Reggie Lawson drove in two runs and Michael Shreves fired eight dominant innings to lead the Traverse City Beach Bums to the 2-1 win at the Windy City Thunderbolts Friday.
With the score tied 1-1 in the ninth, Brandon Jacobs led off with a single and scored on Lawson's double to left center. Bret Dahlson pitched a 1-2-3 three ninth to secure the win.
Shreves improves to 5-0 and the Beach Bums are now 11-1 when he appears in a game. Over eight innings he allowed one run on four hits with zero walks. It's his longest outing of the season.
He was outstanding and also received help from his defense, most noteably a highlight play by Jacobs in left field. With the scored tied 1-1, he robbed Max White of a home run when he lept and brought the ball back as it was clearing the fence.
The teams traded runs in the fourth inning. Lawson's two-out RBI single put the Beach Bums up 1-0. However, White answered with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the inning to even the score 1-1 and it stayed that way until the ninth.
The Beach Bums have won back-to-back games and at 30-16 remain in sole possession of first place in the Frontier League's East Division.
The weekend series at Windy City continues Saturday at 7:05pm eastern time. The Beach Bums are back home Friday July 17th against the Normal Cornbelters at 7:05pm for a another FANtastic Firework Friday Show.
All games are broadcast live on 98.1 The Bear
