Beach Bums Fall to Crushers Earn #3 Seed in Playoffs

AVON, OH - The Traverse City Beach Bums no longer have to wonder where they will be playing for the 2013 playoffs, but unfortunately the postseason will begin on the road for the Beach Bums. Traverse City fell to Lake Erie 5-1 Wednesday night to determine an East Division crown for the Crushers and a #3 seed for the Beach Bums.
The Crushers will host Games 1 & 2 of the first round of the playoffs with Saturday's game beginning at 7:05 pm and Sunday beginning 5:05 pm. Traverse City will host Game 3 at Wuerfel Park on a Two for Tuesday at 7:05 pm and if necessary host a Game 4 on Wednesday as well. Fans can purchase playoff tickets at #10 for chairback seats and #5 for lawn seating.
The Crushers offense jumped out to Jake Sabol early in the ballgame, plating four runs in the first four frames.
The Beach Bums scored their only run in the 4th inning as Chase Burch led off the frame with a double. A Jose Vargas fly ball moved Burch to third base and Matt Howard grounded out to bring home the only Beach Bums' run.
Lake Erie scored again in the 5th to go on top 5-1.
Adam Beach (3-1) was the winning pitcher going five innings allowing one run on three hits, two walks, and two strikeouts. Sabol dropped to 10-6 giving up five runs through five innings on ten hits, one walk, and two strikeouts.
The Beach Bums will wrap up the regular season Thursday against the Crushers. Mike Devine (6-2, 3.95) will start for Traverse City while Jason Wilson (4-5, 5.60) will throw for the Crushers'.
