MARION, IL - The Gateway Grizzlies picked up solid pitching and timely hitting in a 7-2 victory over the Southern Illinois Miners Wednesday night at Rent One Park.
Despite the win, the Grizzlies were eliminated from the playoff race due to Florence's win Wednesday night against Windy City.
Trailing 1-0 heading into the fourth inning, the Grizzlies put up at least one run in every inning from the fourth through the eighth.
Michael Wing tied the game at one in the fourth inning on a solo home run - his seventh of the season.

Jose Flores drove in a run on a single in the sixth, Chris McClendon brought in a run on a double in the seventh and Gateway scored two more runs in the eighth on a Jet Butler RBI single and another Pair sacrifice fly.
Tucker Jensen (7-7) picked up the win in relief. Jensen scattered four hits while not allowing any runs in three innings of work.
Flores and Butler both had two hits for the Grizzlies while Pair drove in two runs.
The Grizzlies and Miners finish up the 2013 regular season Thursday night. First pitch is set for 7:05.
