Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Traverse City Beach Bums(31-38) lost their season-high seventh game of the season tonight to the Normal Cornbelters(35-32) by a final score of 5-3.
After a scoreless first inning, Connor Oliver reached on an infield single with one out. Noah McGowan followed with a single to right. Kendall Patrick then lifted a shallow fly ball to right and as Oliver tried to score, he ran over the catcher, forcing him to drop the ball, and that gave the Beach Bums a 1-0 lead. Normal responded in the top of the third, tying the game on a Derrick Loveless RBI double.
With two outs in the bottom of the inning, Will Kengor and Steve Lohr hit singles up the middle, with the latter moving Kengor to third. Kengor then came in to score after a Steve Lohr grounder was botched, giving the Bums the 2-1 lead. In the fourth, Chris Iriart tried the game on an RBI double and Michael Baca gave Normal the lead, driving in a run on a fielder's choice.
Normal added single runs in the sixth and seventh, picking up RBI doubles from Iriart and Loveless for a 5-2 advantage. With two outs in the ninth, Noah McGowan ripped a double into right field. Kendall Patrick pulled the Beach Bums within two when he slipped an RBI single into left field, but that's as close as they would come.
Jack Landwehr went the distance for the Cornbelters for a complete game win. He allowed three runs, two earned, on nine hits and a walk to improve to 6-3. Matt Murphy suffered the loss to drop to 2-4. He went six innings, giving up four runs on eight hits and a walk.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm and Tom Willms will have the call, starting with the Budweiser pregame show, at 6:45. You can listen along from anywhere in the world at TCBeachBums.com.
