
Wild Things Walk-Off Rascals in Opener

WASHINGTON, PA - The River City Rascals suffered a heartbreaking, walk-off loss on Friday night at Wild Things Park, losing the series opener to the Washington Wild Things 1-0 on a walk-off single from Mike Hill. The two teams combined for just seven hits in the pitcher's duel. The Rascals left seven runners on base in the loss.
With the game tied entering the bottom of the ninth, Roman Collins drew a lead-off walk for the Wild Things, moved to second on a ground ball from Reydel Medina, and after an intentional walk of Hector Roa, scored on the winning hit from Hill, narrowly making it in safely on a close play at the plate.
Rascals starter Justin Garcia pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits, two walks and striking out three. Reliever Jackson Sigman pitched a scoreless eighth. Tanner Wilt (2-1) took the loss, allowing the winning run.
Wild Things starter Thomas Dorminy also went seven scoreless, allowing two hits, four walks and striking out six. Jake Eaton (1-0) earned the win in his season debut, pitching the final 1 1/3 innings for Washington.
The Rascals (37-34) look to bounce back against the Wild Things (39-31) in Game 2 tomorrow night, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm ET. Josh Kimborowicz is expected to get the start for the Rascals.
