
Beach Bums Fall in First Half Finale

Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
CRESTWOOD, Ill. - The Traverse City Beach Bums fell to the Windy City ThunderBolts in the final game of the first half by the score of 5-1.
For the third straight game in the series, the ThunderBolts recorded a first inning homer to take the lead. With Guillermo Martinez at third following a triple, All-Star J.T. Restko belted a 3-2 pitch from Kevin Reese with two outs over the wall in left to put Windy City ahead 2-0.
Three more runs crossed for Windy City in the fifth inning. Tyler Farrar led off with a double and was sacrificed to third. He scored on a single by Gilberto Mejia. Mejia came in on a passed ball while J.T. Restko also drove in a run with a single in the frame.
Kevin Reese took the loss, working five innings and allowing five runs on eight hits to go with five strikeouts. The Beach Bums scored their lone run without the advantage of a hit in the sixth. Sean Hoorelbeke was hit by a pitch and Brian Lapin walked. Both runners executed a double steal and Brad Miller drove in the run with a groundout.
The Beach Bums will be off until Friday when the same Windy City ThunderBolts visit Wuerfel Park in a 7:05 contest.It is a FANtastic Fireworks Friday.
