
Baysox Snap SeaWolves Winning Streak

Erie SeaWolves News Release
The SeaWolves could not hold onto a late lead on Sunday afternoon at Prince George's Stadium as the Bowie Baysox snapped Erie's five game win streak 10-8.
Erie jumped ahead early as Winton Bernard led off the game with a solo home run to left off of Tim Berry for a 1-0 lead. With one out, Josh Prince walked, stole second and scored on a James Robbins single for a 2-0 advantage.
In the second, Connor Harrell walked with one out and scored on a two-out Bernard double making it 3-0. Bernard scored on a Prince single making it 4-0.
Erie added to the lead in the fourth to go ahead 5-0 when Harrell led off with a double and later scored on an error.
Bowie got on the board in the fourth off of Erie starter Warwick Saupold . Mike Yastrzemski led off with a double and scored on a Derrik Gibson single making it 5-1.
In the fifth, Bowie again closed the gap as Michael Burgess walked with one out and on a Sharlon Schoop base hit, scored on a throwing error making it 5-2.
Bowie would come back to tie the game in the sixth. Sean Halton doubled off of Saupold who would give way to reliever Brennan Smith. A wild pitch moved Halton to third and following a Mike McDade walk, scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Rossmel Perez making it 5-3. Glynn Davis then single putting the tying run on for Jason Esposito. Esposito laced a two-run, game-tying double making it 5-5.
Erie quickly jumped back ahead in the seventh. Bernard led off with a single and moved to second on a Brendan Harris sacrifice bunt. Prince capped a three-hit day doubling home Bernard making it 6-5. Jeff McVaney, who earlier in the game extended his hitting streak to eight straight games, singled home Prince making it 7-5.
The 'Wolves added one final run in the eighth as Harold Castro singled home Miguel Gonzalez making it 8-5.
Bowie came roaring back in the last of the eighth. With one out, Smith walked McDade, gave up a single to Perez and walked Davis putting the tying run at first. Omar Duran entered and struck out Esposito for the second out. Duran then walked Qunicy Latimore, plating McDade cutting the Erie lead down to two. Schoop followed and singled home Perez and Davis for the games tying runs. Yastrzemski and Gibson each singled home runs making it 10-8. Erie would not rebound, going down in order in the ninth.
Duran (1-1) took the loss allowing two runs on three hits in 0.2 innings of work.
Saupold took the no-decision allowing three runs on five hits with a walk and a strikeout in 5.1 innings.
