LAST GAME: The B-Mets walked a season-high seven batters for the second consecutive game in their 7-5 loss against Harrisburg Saturday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium. Every run plated by the Senators initially reached base on either a walk or a hit batter. Chase Huchingson took his first loss in relief, allowing two runs in two innings. The starter Luis Cessa allowed an unearned run in four innings of work, earning a no-decision. Jared King and Josh Rodriguez each had three hits, while Albert Cordero chipped in two doubles and an RBI. Jayce Boyd drove in two runs off the bench.
BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP John Gant makes his second start of the season. The righty allowed five runs on eight hits over 3.2 innings pitched at Erie. He took a no-decision in the eventual 7-6 B-Mets victory. Lefty batters went 4-for-7 against him in his debut. Last season, Gant was 11-5 with a 2.56 ERA in 21 starts for Savannah (Low-A). He ended the year with a 2-0 record and 1.24 ERA in his final five starts. Today will be his first career start at NYSEG Stadium. Gant is 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA in three career day starts.
HARRISBURG STARTER: RHP Austin Voth makes his third start of the season. The righty has worked six innings in each of his first two starts, allowing four runs last time out in a win against Bowie. Voth made five starts with the Senators last season, going 1-3 with a 6.52 ERA. The righty allowed a run and three hits in 5.1 innings against the B-Mets on August 8, 2014. Voth struck out eight to get the win. The 22-year old is 1-4 in eight career day starts, with a 4.83 ERA.
WALK-LESS: Saturday was the first time the B-Mets did not draw a walk in 34 games (August 17, 2014 vs. Reading). Binghamton failed to draw a walk on three occasions last season. The B-Mets had nine walks in their previous three games.
WALK THIS WAY: The B-Mets have tied or set a new season-high for walks in each of the past three games, including walking seven Senators the last two times out. It's the first time Binghamton has walked seven batters in a game since May 22, 2014 against Portland. The 14 walks over two games are also the most since the same total from April 12-13, 2013 against New Hampshire. The Senators drew 20 walks in their first seven games of the year.
TWO FOR YOUR MONEY: Binghamton has stroked 11 doubles in the series, including a season-high five in two of the three games. It's the most team doubles in nine regular season series (August 13-14, 2014 vs. Erie). Binghamton has also allowed nine doubles in the series.
STREAK BROKEN: Saturday was the ninth three-hit game of Jared King's three year career. It was his first since August 22, 2014 when he was playing with St. Lucie (High-A). Josh Rodriguez also chipped in with his first three-hit game since August 8, 2014 with New Orleans (AAA).
RUN MACHINE: Jayce Boyd has 10 RBI in eight career games against the Senators. He has driven in five runs in his last four at-bats vs. Harrisburg.
HERE COMES THE SUN: The B-Mets are hosting back -to-back afternoon games at home for the first time this season. Binghamton is 3-2 in matinees this season, after going 19-10 a year ago.
BEEN CAUGHT STEALING: The B-Mets are 1-for-9 in stolen base attempts since beginning the season 5-for-5. Their last five failed stolen base attempts have all come with two outs in an inning. Binghamton did not attempt a stolen base in each of the past two games for the first time this season.
NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets welcome the Erie SeaWolves in to NYSEG Stadium to start a three game set Monday night at 6:35 PM.
