Bowie, Md. - The Baysox fell to Altoona 3-1 in 11 innings Saturday evening and are now eliminated from playoff contention. The Baysox trail Akron by two games with two to play, but would lose the tiebreaker should both teams end with the same record. The Baysox last playoff appearance was in 2012 and Bowie lost to Akron in five games.

Altoona got on the board quickly in the top of the first inning against Baysox starter Branden Kline. Drew Maggi drew a lead off walk and Ramon Cabrera followed with a one-out walk before an Andy Vasquez RBI double to right field brought Maggi home to make the score 1-0.

The Baysox tied the game in the bottom of the second inning against Altoona starter Angel Sanchez. Michael Ohlman hit a lead off single to center field and Chris Marrero followed with a one-out walk. Ronald Bermudez brought Ohlman home with a single to center field to tie the score 1-1.

The Curve broke the tie in the top of the 11th inning against Baysox reliever Oliver Drake. Dan Gamache drew a lead off walk and Stetson Allie hit a two-run blast to left field that gave Altoona the 3-1 lead.

Kline threw seven innings and allowed one run on four hits while striking out three and walking five in the no decision. Reliever Gene Escat pitched three scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out two. Drake took the loss, pitching one inning and allowing two runs on one hit and one walk while striking out one.

Altoona reliever Jeff Inman picked up the win, throwing the final two innings and allowing two runs while striking out two and walking one.

LHP Anthony Vasquez (8-7, 4.64) takes the mound for the Baysox tomorrow as the team plays the third game in a four-game home series against the Altoona Curve. He will be opposed by LHP Tom Harlan (3-3, 3.25).

The Baysox are home through Labor Day Monday, Sep. 1 for the final four-game homestand of the season. Promotional Highlights include Fan Appreciation Day with knit beanie cap Sunday at 2:05 p.m. and the final Mutt Monday of the season September 1 at 2:05 p.m.
