
Baysox Bounce Back with Long Ball

Erie, PA - The Baysox used three home runs to end a two-game losing skid and beat Erie 7-5 on Sunday afternoon.
Brandon Waring, Caleb Joseph and Zelous Wheeler all homered in the Baysox victory.
The SeaWolves got out to the early lead in the first inning. With two outs and no one on base, Tony Plagman singled and Rawley Bishop walked. Jordan Lennerton then knocked in the first run of the game on a single to center that scored Plagman. Rob Brantley followed with a double that knocked in Bishop to give Erie a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the second, the Baysox answered right back. Waring led off with a home run, his second in as many days, to get the Baysox on the board. With one out, Joseph tied up the game with his second home run of the season. Then with two outs Jonathan Schoop singled and Antoan Richardson walked. Buck Britton knocked them both in with a two-run double that gave the Baysox a 4-2 lead.
Erie got a run back in the fourth inning on a leadoff home run by Jordan Lennerton to make the score 4-3.
In the fifth inning, Manny Machado hit a two-out double that scored Waring from first base to give the Baysox a 5-3 lead.
Lennerton cut the lead back to one in the sixth on his second home run of the game that made the score 5-4.
The Baysox answered right back in the seventh on a solo home run by Wheeler that gave the Baysox a 6-4 lead.
Erie once again cut the lead to one run in the seventh inning. Brent Dlugach led off the inning with a double then stole third and home to make the score 6-5.
The Baysox added an insurance run on a wild pitch in the eighth inning to extend the lead to 7-5.
Tim Bascom picked up the win for the Baysox. He went six innings for the third time in three starts this year and allowed four runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.
Eddie Gamboa picked up the save by pitching the final three innings and allowing just one run.
Kelvin De La Cruz got the loss. He went four innings and allowed four runs on six hits while striking out four.
The Baysox will continue their seven-game roadtrip when they take on Akron tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. RHP Bobby Bundy (1-1, 3.27) will make the start for the Baysox.
The Baysox return to Bowie on Thursday, April 26 for a seven-game homestand that includes Pie Day and appearances by current and former Washington Mystics and Wizards players.
