Baysox Blanked by Akron in Series Opener

BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox (13-12) dropped the series opener to the Akron RubberDucks (15-11) by a score of 15-0 on a warm Thursday night at Prince George's Stadium in Bowie.

Akron grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second as a pair of singles and a walk loaded the bases with one away before Ka'ai Tom plated a run via a sac fly.

The RubberDucks broke the game open with three runs in the third as Bobby Bradley knocked in a run with an RBI double and Andrew Calica's two-out, two-run double later in the frame made it a 4-0 game in favor of the visitors.

Baysox starter Hunter Harvey (0-1) allowed four runs on six hits to go along with two walks and two strikeouts in four innings of work.

Bradley struck again in the fifth with a two-run shot off of RHP Ryan Meisinger (1.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 2 K) opened up a 6-0 lead for the RubberDucks.

Akron delivered four more runs in the sixth to make it a 10-0 contest including Bradley's second home run of the game, this one off of RHP Jay Flaa (0.2 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, BB, K).

The RubberDucks posted a second consecutive four-spot in the seventh to extend the lead to 14-0.

In his Double-A debut, Akron starter Jake Paulson (1-0) surrendered seven hits to go along with a walk and three strikeouts in 6.0 IP.

Anderson Feliz (2-4) and Aderlin Rodriguez (2-4) both had multi-hit games for manager Gary Kendall's squad. All nine Baysox starters recorded a hit on the night.

The series continues on Friday at 7:05 p.m. as RHP Michael Kelly (0-1, 4.50) gets the start for Bowie against Akron RHP Aaron Civale (2-1, 2.22).
