Baysox Announce Opening Day Roster

BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce today the 2010 Opening Day Roster. The roster features 17 players who spent time in Bowie last year as well as two players from 2008. The starting rotation is expected to include LHP Zach Britton, RHP Steve Johnson, RHP Chorye Spoone, RHP Ryohei Tanaka and RHP Tim Bascom. Johnson, Tanaka and Bascom each pitched for the Baysox in 2009 and Spoone pitched for the team in 2008.

Returning position players include 2009 All-Star Miguel Abreu, Blake Davis, Paco Figueroa, Pedro Florimon, Brandon Waring, Matt Angle and Daniel Figueroa. Bowie's bullpen also features a number of familiar faces, as RHP Pedro Beato, RHP Pat Egan, RHP Eddie Gamboa, RHP Luis Lebron, LHP Wilfrido Perez, RHP Josh Perrault and 2009 All-Stars RHP Ryan Ouellette and LHP Chad Thall return to the Baysox.

The roster includes four players from the Orioles 40-man roster: Luis Lebron, Wilfrido Perez, Chorye Spoone and Pedro Florimon. The Baysox also have two players with Major League experience, RHP Armando Gabino and INF Joel Guzman. OF Matt Angle, RHP Luis Lebron and RHP Josh Perrault will both start the season on the disabled list.
