Erie BayHawks News Release
ERIE, PA - The Erie BayHawks (24-26), NBA G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club, ended their 2018-19 campaign with a double-overtime win over the Westchester Knicks (29-21) tonight 123-122 inside Erie Insurance Arena.
Tonight's contest marked the final game that the BayHawks will play as the NBA G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club. Beginning next season, 2019-20, Erie will be affiliated with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Over the Hawks' two-year affiliation, the BayHawks compiled a 52-48 (.520) record and produced six NBA Call-Ups: Tyler Cavanaugh, Jaylen Morris, Jeremy Evans, R.J. Hunter, Jordan Sibert and Terrence Jones. Erie's six NBA Call-Ups are tied for third-most in the NBA G League over the past two seasons.
Last season, 2017-18, the BayHawks won their first-ever division title and this season, Erie set new franchise records for total points in a regulation game (142 vs. Wisconsin, Dec. 1, 2018) and made three pointers (27 vs. Greensboro, Dec. 5, 2018). Also in 2018-19, the BayHawks became the first team in NBA G League history to have eight players score 30-or-more points on eight separate occasions within the first 25 games of the season (Elias Sports).
The BayHawks had three players record double-doubles in tonight's win: Jordan Sibert (31 points, 10 rebounds), Jeremy Hollowell (18 points, game-high 14 rebounds) and Isaac Humphries (12 points, 12 rebounds). It's the first time in franchise history the BayHawks have had three players notch double-doubles in back-to-back games (Elias Sports). Cat Barber poured in a game-high 32 points on 12-22 (.545) shooting from the floor, four rebounds, a team-high five assists and one block in 47.1 minutes of play.
Jameel Warney notched a team-high 26 points on 10-20 (.500) shooting from the floor for the Knicks, to go along with 11 rebounds, three assists and one block in 36.3 minutes. Billy Garrett contributed 25 points, four rebounds, six assists and two steals in 39.3 minutes of play.
The first 12 minutes of action was all Erie, as the BayHawks held a 19-point, 39-20, lead after one quarter. The Knicks cut their deficit to single digits, 53-44, with 4:29 left to play in the opening half. Heading into halftime, Erie held a 70-54 advantage. The BayHawks' 70 first half points marked the fourth time this season Erie has poured in 70-or-more points in an opening half.
Westchester edged Erie 33-18 in the third quarter. Heading into the fourth quarter, the BayHawks held a slim 88-87 lead. Billy Garrett gave the Knicks their first lead of the game, 104-103, with 5:23 left to play in regulation. As time expired, the score was tied at 120. One overtime wasn't enough, as Erie would finish the season victorious winning 123-122 in double overtime.
