Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
Jacksonville, Fla. - Cyle Hankerd finished with four hits, including two homeruns and five RBI, while Hector Ambriz dealt seven scoreless innings leading the Mobile BayBears (15-7) to a 12-0 victory over the Jacksonville Suns (12-10) in front of 5,041 Friday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Ambriz (3-2) was perfect through the first five and two-thirds innings. The former fifth round pick from UCLA allowed three hits over seven scoreless innings for the win. The right-hander is expected to be promoted to Triple-A Reno to make room for Jarrod Parker, who makes his Double-A debut Saturday night.
Sean West (2-2) picked up the loss in his fifth outing of the season, allowing nine runs and seven hits over three and one-thirds innings.
Mobile opened the scoring with a seven run second inning, sending eleven batters to the plate against West. Chris Rahl belted a two-run homerun before Mark Hallberg walked with the bases loaded for a 3-0 lead. Cyle Hankerd later smashed a grand slam homerun for a 7-0 lead.
The BayBears extended the lead in the fourth inning as Hallberg and Hankerd hit solo homeruns, opening a 9-0 lead. Orlando Mercado later singled in Bryan Byrne for a 10-0 advantage.
Mobile ended the scoring in the seventh inning, as Hallberg scored on a Byrne ground out and Ricardo Sosa scored on a Matt Peterson wild pitch for a 12-0 final.
