JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - With seven runs in the second, and Hector Ambriz throwing darts, the BayBears were in good shape on Friday night as they plastered the Jacksonville Suns 12-0 on Friday night at the Baseball Grounds.

Chris Rahl kicked off the scoring for the BayBears (15-7) as he lined his third tater of the season with Bryan Byrne aboard in the top of the second. A walk, single and hit batsman loaded the bases with Mark Hallberg drawing a walk from Sean West (2-2) to force in the third BayBear run.

Cyle Hankerd who homered to lift the BayBears on Thursday blasted a grand slam to cap off a seven-run rally. In the fourth, Hallberg tattooed a dinger to left preceding another solo shot from Hankerd to make it 9-0. After West exited, Chris Leroux surrendered a double to Byrne and an RBI single to Orlando Mercado, giving the BayBears an even 10.

In the meantime, Ambriz (3-2) was in full control, taking a perfect game into the sixth inning before a succession of three two-out singles with Chris De La Cruz breaking the no-hit bid. Following the contest, Ambriz was promoted to Triple-A Reno. Hallberg extended the BayBear cushion in the seventh by doubling and scoring on a groundout off the bat of Byrne. Ricardo Sosa scored on a wild pitch to finish the scoring.

Reid Mahon made his first appearance and tossed a perfect eighth while Kyler Newby placed the stamp on the club's sixth shutout of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.

20-year top prospect Jarrod Parker will make his BayBear debut on Saturday night in Jacksonville at 6:05 with coverage beginning on News/Talk 1480 WABB-AM at 7. The BayBears return home to battle Montgomery on Monday, May 11 at 7:05 p.m. For Hank Aaron Stadium ticket information, please call (251) 479-BEAR or log on to www.mobilebaybears.com.
