Louisville Bats News Release
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats (30-24) secured their fourth straight victory over the Worcester Red Sox (25-30) on Friday night, winning 9-4 to reach the 30-win mark in the fewest games for the team since 2009.
Elly De La Cruz led the way offensively for the Bats, going 2-4 at the plate with a home run and three RBIs while scoring two runs, with Alejo Lopez and Michael Siani also recording a pair of RBIs each on the evening.

After leading off last night's win with a home run, Nick Martini got the game started with a double into left field before De La Cruz sent him home with an RBI single and tore around the base-paths to reach third after a bobble in right field. Christian Encarnacion-Strand kept it rolling, bringing De La Cruz in to score on a soft grounder to second to give the Bats an early two-run lead.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the next frame, De La Cruz drew a four-pitch walk for his second RBI of the game in as many innings. The Bats then opened the game up in the third inning, scoring three runs in the stanza on RBI knocks from Lopez and Chuckie Robinson to lead 6-0.
After Worcester got on the board in the top of the fourth, De La Cruz launched his 12th home run of the season to keep Louisville's lead at six runs. The Bats immediately responded to a Woo Sox run in the top of the fifth with another homer, as Siani snuck a ball just over the wall in right field to plate two more runs and bring the advantage to 9-2.
The Red Sox added a pair of runs in the top of the sixth, but scoreless innings out of the bullpen from Silvino Bracho (0-1, 2.76 ERA), Ryan Nutof (1-1, 5,48 ERA), and Alan Busenitz (0-0, 1.59 ERA) slammed the door shut and preserved the win for starter Brett Kennedy (2-1, 2.53 ERA) who tossed five innings and struck out six while allowing only four hits.
The last time the Bats reached 30 wins this early into the season was in 2009, when they reached the benchmark in 53 games. The win also secures the fifth consecutive series victory for Louisville, the first time since 2018.
The series against the WooSox continues tomorrow with first pitch set for 7:15 p.m. ET. RHP Teddy Stankiewicz (0-0, 32.40 ERA) will be on the bump for the Bats, while LHP Matt Dermody (2-2, 4.50 ERA) will get the start for Worcester.
