Bulls Best Jumbo Shrimp for Fifth Straight Win

DURHAM, NC - Bulls first baseman Kyle Manzardo and second baseman Osleivis Basabe each drove in a run, third baseman Tristan Gray homered and the Bulls combined to pitch seven scoreless innings in Duham's 3-2 victory over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Friday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Manzardo put the Bulls on the board in the fourth, before Gray smashed a homer to extend Durham's lead to 2-0. Basabe drove in one more run to solidiy Durham's 3-0 victory.
Jacksonville answered in the eighth with a 2-run double thanks to DH Jerar Encarnacion.
Bulls reliever Ryan Thompson (1.1 IP, 3 SO) earned the victory, combining with Chris Gau (2.2 IP, 1 H, 3 SO) and Carlos Garcia (2.0 IP, 3 SO) for seven scoreless innings. Jacksonville starter Emmanuel De Jesus (6.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO) suffered the defeat.
The two teams are set to continue their series on Saturday night, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35pm ET. RHP Yonny Chirinos is anticipated to get the nod for Durham and be opposed by LHP Devin Smeltzer.
