
Bats Sweep Red Wings, 7-4

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -The Louisville Bats beat the Rochester Red Wings, 7-4 on Sunday afternoon at Frontier Field to complete their first sweep in Rochester since 1990.
The Bats jumped on the Red Wings early as Steve Selsky doubled home two runs in the first inning, giving Louisville a 2-0 lead.
Right back the Red Wings answered as they scored a run in the bottom half of the first to cut their deficit to 2-1.
In his 13th start of the season for the Bats, right-hander Robert Stephenson (5-4, 3.93) pitched six innings, gave up three runs on five hits, walked three and struck out eight in his win. Stephenson tallied 108 pitches, 68 for strikes.
The fifth inning saw the RedWings jumping out to their first lead of the series when Adam Brett Walker doubled home two runs, giving Rochester a 3-2 lead.
Rochester starter and southpaw Jason Wheeler (6-1, 2.64) recorded a no-decision after six innings of work in which he gave up three runs on seven hits. Righty Trevor May took the loss after he gave up a run in his Major League rehab appearance.
Down 3-2, Selsky tied the game with a solo shot off the scoreboard in the fifth. Selsky was back in the seventh inning with his fourth RBI of the game giving the Bats a 4-3 lead. In his last eight games, Selsky has four doubles, three homers and 11runs batted in.
Tony Renada provided much-needed insurance for the Bats in the eighth when his single made it 6-3. Renada would cross the plate for the Bats third run of the inning after Carlos Triunfel beat out a throw for an infield single.
Righty Chad Rogers pitched two innings of relief in which he gave up a solo shot in the eighth inning.Right-hander Dayan Diaz closed out the ballgame for his first save of the season in two chances.
Chris Berset doubled twice matching the amount of doubles he had all season coming into the game.
Tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. the Bats will begin a seven-game homestand at Louisville Slugger Field. In the first of three games with the Buffalo Bisons, right-hander Homer Bailey will make a ML rehab start for the Bats and will face right-hander Chris Leroux (5-4, 3.31).
