Bats Lose Third Straight, Fall to .500

LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The Louisville Bats (31-31) dropped their third straight game Friday night against the Durham Bulls (37-26), 11-7.

A single by right fielder Yorman Rodriguez with bases loaded scored the night's first run, and second baseman Herman Iribarren followed with another RBI single making the lead, 2-0.

Durham's offense exploded in the second scoring seven runs on seven hits taking the lead, 7-2. Tonight's game tied a season high of runs allowed against Louisville in one inning, Toledo also scored seven on April 21.

The Bats answered nicely loading the bases in the bottom of the second with a walk issued by Floro sending Cabrera home. Two RBI from Steve Selsky and a RBI single by Rodriguez cut the Bulls lead to 7-6.

A two-run homer from Richie Shaffer in the fifth extended the Durham lead. Louisville responded in the bottom half with a RBI double from Jose Constanza.

Shaffer recorded his third home run of the night in the seventh making it the most home runs by a Louisville opponent since April 2011 at Columbus by Chad Huffman.

Dylan Axelrod (L, 3-4, 4.57) exited the game early in the second. The righty allowed six hits, seven earned runs, two walks, one strikeout and one home run.

Bulls right-hander Dylan Floro (W, 7-4, 3.50) pitched five innings, allowed ten hits, seven runs, six earned, two walks and struck out five.

The Bats and Bulls face again tomorrow at 6:05. Righty Keyvius Sampson (1-2, 1.85) goes for Louisville and will be opposed by Matt Buschmann (6-4, 3.24) for Durham.
