
Bats Drop 9th Straight, 7-4 to Clippers

LOUISVILLE Ky.- After a 55 minute rain delay, the Louisville Bats' (63-79) losing streak continued as they dropped their ninth straight game after falling to the Columbus Clippers (82-60) by the score of 7-4 on Saturday night.
Columbus got an early lead when they picked up two runs in the first inning after Zach Walters hit a two-run blast to bring in James Ramsey who tripled earlier in the inning.
The Bats got one back in the bottom of the second after Chris Dominguez hit a solo home run to right-center field.
The Clippers tagged on three more runs in the top of the third. During this inning, Walters hit his second two-run homer of the game.
Louisville got two runs in the fifth after Josciel Veras hit a 2 RBI single to cut the Clippers lead to two.
Columbus hit their third home run in the game in the top of the sixth as Anthony Gallas hit a solo shot to left field.
Louisville answered back in the bottom of the seventh when Chris Berset hit a RBI double down the left field line.
The Clippers picked up a run in the ninth to bring the lead back to three as they secured the win.
Dylan Axelrod (L, 6-8, 4.68) suffered the loss for the Bats. Axelrod pitched three innings and gave up five hits and five runs while striking out four.
Jarrett Grube (W, 9-0, 2.26) earned the win for the Clippers. Grube threw five innings. He gave up four hits, three runs (one earned), and one walk while striking out five.
Louisville will play tomorrow against the Indianapolis Indians for game one of a two-game series to wrap up the season. On the mound for the Bats will be right-handed pitcher Robert Stephenson (4-3, 4.04). For the Indians, righty Tyler Glasnow (1-1, 2.41) will get the start. Game time is scheduled for 6:05 PM.
