Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls fell to the Louisville Bats 3-1 in a pitcher's duel Saturday night at the DBAP, dropping the second game of the three-game set.
Durham righty Matt Andriese and Louisville southpaw John Lamb matched each other in the early going, as each went six innings, surrendering one run. In the second inning the Bulls (55-59) plated their lone run of the game, as JP Arencibia and Nick Franklin each notched singles to put runners on second and third. With two outs Ryan Brett then singled to rightfield, scoring Arencibia for a 1-0 lead.
That score held until the fifth frame, when Chris Dominguez hit the first pitch of the frame into the rightfield seats to tie the contest.
In the seventh the Bats (58-58) took the lead for good by scoring a pair off left-hander Enny Romero. The inning's first two batters each singled, and later in the inning a pair of sacrifice flies scored Juan Silva and Dominguez as Louisville took a two-run lead.
Lamb (1-1) picked up his first victory, surrendering just one run on four hits over six innings, while Collin Balester picked up his sixth save by notching the final five outs. Andriese went six solid innings, setting a career-high by striking out 11 batters, while allowing just one run on five hits. Romero (1-1) suffered the loss as Louisville scored two runs off him in three innings of work.
The rubber match of the series will take place on Sunday at 5:05 p.m., when the Bulls send LHP Blake Snell (1-2, 1.93) to the hill against LHP Brandon Finnegan (0-0, 3.38).
