Pawtucket, RI (August 8, 2015) - The Syracuse Chiefs beat the Pawtucket Red Sox, 4-3, Saturday night at McCoy Stadium. Bruce Billings allowed just three hits in five and two-thirds innings for Syracuse's sixth straight win and ninth in a row over the PawSox.

Syracuse (49-67) grabbed a first-inning lead. Emmanuel Burriss singled to start the game and moved to third two batters later on a Jason Martinson single. Kevin Keyes followed with a single to score Burriss to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead.

Pawtucket (44-70) broke a 22-inning scoreless streak in the fourth to tie the game. Billings retired the first 10 batters before Marco Hernandez singled with one out in the fourth. Sandy Leon then doubled to left field to score Hernandez and tie the score.

The Chiefs immediately answered in the top of the fifth. Martinson and Keyes each singled to start the inning. Matt Skole followed with a two-run double to give Syracuse the lead back at 3-1. Skole came around to score after a groundout moved him to third and Caleb Ramsey's sacrifice fly brought him home for a 4-1 Chiefs lead.

The score held at 4-1 until the eighth. Sammy Solis walked Quentin Berry with one out. Hernandez then singled for the second time to put two runners on base. Leon followed with another RBI hit, this time a single to score Berry and cut the score to 4-2. A batter later, Allen Craig's sacrifice fly scored Hernandez to bring the PawSox within 4-3. But that was as close as Pawtucket would get as Rafael Martin got the save in the ninth.

Syracuse has won six straight games for the first time since August 12th-17th of last season. The Chiefs can sweep the seven-game, home-and-home series Sunday afternoon. A.J. Cole is scheduled to start for the Chiefs opposite Zeke Spruill for the PawSox. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
