Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons take on the Gwinnett Braves in the second game of a three-game series at Coolray Field (7:05 p.m.) Gwinnett won the opener last night 5-3 to drop the Herd to 2-2 on its current roadtrip. These weekend games are Buffalo's final non-divisional games this season. The Bisons return home Monday to host Rochester.
vs. the Braves
The Bisons are 0-4 this year against the Braves with Gwinnett clinching the season-series last night. Gwinnett has now 10 straight over the Herd after Buffalo defeated the Braves on May 5 of last year in their first matchup in 2014.
Jeff Francis
LHP JEFF FRANCIS has been close to perfect for almost two months now. The veteran has had back-to-back starts of seven shutout innings, the most recent coming in a no-decision to Pawtucket on August 2. A two-run double from the Chiefs' Jason Martinson on July 2 represent the only runs Francis has allowed in his last 40.0 innings since midway through his start on June 21 in Syracuse. Francis has struck out 33 and walked only four in his last six appearances (37.0 IP).
MattVP
INF MATT HAGUE collected his 48th multi-hit game of the season last night (43% of his total 111 appearances). He has also drawn a walk in six of his last seven games, pulling into a 1st-place tie with Toledo's Daniel Fields for the IL-lead with 55. Hague's .344 average is 32 points better than any hitter and his .428 on-base pct. tops the IL by 46 points.
Ezequiel Carrera
OF EZEQUIEL CARRERA rejoins the Bisons after being outrighted by the Blue Jays. Carrera played 70 games with Toronto since his May 2nd promotion, hitting .279 with three homers and 21 RBI. To make room, OF MELKY MESA was transferred to New Hampshire (AA).
Bisons Bits
OF ALEX HASSAN has eight multi-hit outings in his last 10 games. His .378 average (37-98) in 24 games since July 7 is the 2nd-highest mark in the International League in that span...OF DALTON POMPEY has scored 21 runs in his last 19 games...INF ANDY BURNS picked up his eighth multi-hit game in his last 13 outings last night.
