
Baseball Is Back at the Home of the Florence Freedom

FLORENCE, KY-May 17th is Opening Day for the Florence Freedom and the 2012 Frontier League Season, as Northern Kentucky's baseball team will host the Traverse City Beach Bums at 7:05 pm.
It will have been 257 days since the Freedom last played an official game at the Home of the Florence Freedom, and needless to say, the Freedom fans and players are eager to get the new season underway.
"It is a long offseason, but the players arrived at camp working hard and ready to play. They really seem excited to be wearing a Freedom uniform this year. This should be a fun season," said Manager Fran Riordan.
But it's not just baseball fans come to see at Florence Freedom games, it's the zany and fan friendly promotions. Leading off the promotions calendar will be a rally towel give-a-way courtesy of Skyline Chili to the first 1,000 fans. Skyline Chili is also sponsoring a $10,000 home run contest give-a-way if the Freedom hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning, better come because it could be you!
Opening Day also happens to fall on a "ËThirsty Thursday' and like always, $1 beer and soda will be featured throughout the night. However, this year family friendly pricing on $1 hot dogs will also just the dollar lineup! Also making its debut in 2012, Parrot Bay frozen drink pouches in strawberry and mango Daiquiri flavors, as well as pina colada, will be sold for just $2.
But the fun does not stop there. After an exciting night of baseball, all fans are invited to head over to the Parrot Bay bandstand as The Dave May and Southern Fried Band will be performing.
Can't make it to opening night? The Freedom are home Friday and Saturday night as well with a double Rozzi fireworks show on Friday and The Sonny Moorman band performing live post-game on Saturday.
