O'FALLON, MO - River City outslugged the Gateway Grizzlies and held on for a 15-10 victory Wednesday night at T.R. Hughes Ballpark in the exhibition finale for both teams. Both teams open their regular season on Friday night at home.

The Rascals scored 10 runs in the first four innings, highlighted by a Jeremy Synan grand slam off Grizzlies reliever Alex Kaminsky.

Gateway hung around, thanks to a strong offensive effort. Chris McClendon, Jerod Yakubik, Case Rigby and Jon Myers all had multi-hit games.

McClendon led the attack with a 4-for-6 day. The former Rascal smacked two doubles and a homer while driving in three runs.

Tim Brown got the start and surrendered three runs in two innings. Kaminsky gave up seven runs in two innings, while Kolby Moore gave up a run in two innings. Paul Tremlin worked two scoreless innings and Richard Barrett gave up four runs in one inning of work.

Gateway opens up their regular season on Friday night at GCS Ballpark against the Joliet Slammers. It's Magnet Schedule Giveaway presented by GCS Federal Credit Union and a Fireworks Night presented by Yellowbook. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
