Barry Brust Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week

ESTERO, FL - The ECHL announced that goaltender Barry Brust has been named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week of January 18-24. Under contract with the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League, Brust finished runner up for this award last week after posting a 3-0-0 mark with a 1.58 goals against average and.930 save percentage. In two starts this week, he helped the Everblades secure two wins over divisional foe, Gwinnett. The Swan River, Manitoba native stopped 31 shots in a 3-2 victory on Jan. 22 and 28 shots in the 'Blades 5-1 win on Jan. 23.

Brust, 26, is undefeated in 2010 in an Everblades sweater. Dating back to December 19, 2009 he has won six straight starts to improve his record to 9-2-2 with a 2.26 goals against average and a.925 save percentage, which leads the ECHL. Brust has also recorded three shootout wins in five chances which is tied for the ECHL lead. He has been involved in five shootout contests stopping 25 of 30 (83%) shots in the shootout this season.

The sixth-year professional spent the last two seasons in the American Hockey League with the Houston Aeros.

In two seasons with Houston, Brust posted a record of 33-25-6 in 71 appearances. His goals against average was 2.40 with a.916 save percentage. During the 2008-09, Brust was sidelined for most of the season due to a foot injury. He has appeared in three games with the Aeros this season and posted a 2-1-0 record with a 2.43 goals against average and.904 save percentage.

The Everblades continue their five-game homestand with three games against the Trenton Devils this week. Tomorrow night is another "Wet Wednesday" in Germain Arena with $2.00 Budweiser drafts all night long. Friday night is NASCAR night and Little Caesar's is giving away a free pizza coupon card. The two clubs wrap up the week series with the final battle on Saturday night for 'Blades Beach Party' night. The Hat Boys will be performing on the concourse before the game and the first 2,500 fans receive an Everblades flexible frisbee.
