Barracuda Fall 4-2 in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA -The San Jose Barracuda (0-2-0-0, 0pts) presented by Barracuda Networks finished their two game exhibition schedule with a 4-2 loss to the host Bakersfield Condors (1-1-0-0, 2pts) at the Rabobank Arena on Saturday evening. The Barracuda open up their AHL regular season schedule on Friday, October 9 at 7:30pm vs. the Rockford IceHogs at the SAP Center.

Jonathan Parker and Mike DiPaolo scored for the Barracuda while Justin Baker added two assist from the blue line. Andrew Miller (1-1-2) and Brad Hunt (1-1-2) led the way for Bakersfield offensively while goaltender Laurent Brossoit went the distance for the Condors making 30 saves in net for the victory. Joel Rumpel played the entire game for the Barracuda making 26 saves in the loss.

The Condors grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first period with a power play goal on a rebound by Andrew Miller (1st) at 5:36 and a breakaway score by Josh Winquist (1st) at 13:19. Joel Rumpel made 11 first period saves for San Jose while Laurent Brossoit turned aside five Barracuda shots in the opening frame.

Bakersfield went ahead 3-0 at 13:14 of the second period as Ryan Hamilton (1st) roofed a rebound past Joel Rumpel. San Jose got on the board at 14:08 as Jonathan Parker (1st) jammed home a centering feed from Justin Baker at 14:08. But the Condors went ahead 4-1 as Brad Hunt (1st) sent a laser into the net from inside the right circle at 18:43. The Barracuda outshot the Condors 18-11 in the second period but trailed 4-1 headed into the second intermission.

San Jose scored the only goal of the third period as Mike DiPaolo (1st) roofed a rebound from on top of the crease at 18:02 for the final score of the hockey game as the Condors took the game 4-2. San Jose outshot Bakersfield 9-6 in the third period.
