LYON, FRANCE - Allen York and the Syracuse Crunch shut out the Lyon Hockey Club Les Lions, 5-0, this afternoon in the preseason finale at the Patinoire Charlemagne Arena.
Forward Adam Erne recorded a hat trick and Tye McGinn tallied three assists during the team's victory.
The Crunch penalty kill unit shut down all four Les Lions man-advantages. Syracuse was unable to convert on three power-play opportunities.
Both Crunch goaltenders appeared in the final preseason match. York completed a 17-save shutout for Syracuse, while Adam Wilcox turned aside 39 of 44 shots between the pipes for Lyon.
After a scoreless first period, the Crunch opened scoring early in the second. At the 3:28 mark, Mike Blunden found the back of the net off assists from Dylan Blujus and Philippe Paradis.
With 3:09 remaining in the frame, Erne doubled the Crunch's score with the help of McGinn.
Syracuse went on a three-goal tear in the third period to down the Lions, 5-0. Just two minutes into the final 20, Erne shoveled in a backhander and notched his second tally of the contest. McGinn also picked up his second point of the game with the helper, while Jeff Tambellini grabbed the secondary assist.
Erne earned his hat trick four minutes later when he tapped in a rebound from McGinn.
