IceCaps Take Home Colemans Cup

St. John's IceCaps News Release


GANDER, NL - Daniel Carr beat goaltender Ryan Massa with the only goal in the shootout to lead the IceCaps to a 5-4 victory over the Toronto Marlies in Game 3 of the Colemans Cup Sunday afternoon. The victory marked the first time an IceCaps team has won an exhibition tournament title in the franchise's five-year history.

Nikita Scherbak and Gabriel Dumont each picked up a goal and two assists for the St. John's club. Dumont's goal came with just 1.9 seconds left on the clock to tie the score and send the game to overtime.

The IceCaps play their first regular season game in Hartford on Saturday, October 10.
