Cleveland, OH - The Barons met the Rochester Americans in the Saturday afternoon matinee. The Barons matched blows with the North Division heavyweight. In a game that featured stellar goaltending, each team walked away with a point as the game ended in a 2-2 tie. For the Barons, it marks the second consecutive overtime game and the third overtime game in their last four contests.
1st Period...Cleveland took the early lead as Patrick Rissmiller finished a 2-on-1 with Brad Boyes at the 5:02. The Barons would take advantage of a 5-on-3 power play as Zalesak wound up finishing some nifty passing. Assisting on the play were Patrick Rissmiller and Garrett Stafford. Zalesak's goal gives him 102 points with the Barons. The 102 points set a Barons franchise record. Seamus Kotyk was solid in goal as he stopped all 13 shots he faced. End of 1st period... 2nd Period...Rochester would strike first in the second period when Dominic Pittis scored on the power play to make the score 2-1 in Cleveland's favor. Rochester would tie it up when Milan Bartovic snuck past the Barons defense and went five hole on Seamus Kotyk. Shots were even in the second as both teams got off 13. End of 2nd period... 3rd Period.... Neither team would find the back of the net as both goalies stopped all eleven shots they faced. End of 3rd period... Barons 4 Americans 2 Shots on goal Barons 36 Americans 37 Power Plays Barons 1-4 Americans 1-7
Overtime...The Barons couldn't capitalize on the 4-3 advantage to begin the extra frame. Cleveland out shot Rochester 6-3 in the extra session, but could not find the back of the net. End of game...Barons 2 Americans 2 Shots on goal Barons 42 Americans 40 Power Plays Barons 1-5 Americans 1-7
