Birmingham Barons News Release

Birmingham, AL - The Birmingham Barons dropped their second-straight game to the Chattanooga Lookouts, falling by a score of 6-3 at AT&T Field in Chattanooga.

Chattanooga carried an early 1-0 lead into the fifth inning where the Barons took their only lead of the game at 2-1 by scoring two runs highlighted by an RBI single recently promoted Jeremy Dowdy.

The lead would be short lived as the Lookouts plated two runs in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run double by Bobby Coyle against Barons starter Bryan Blough (2-3, 3.81) to take a 3-2 lead.

The lead would grow to 5-2 in the seventh on a two-run single by O'Koyea Dickson against reliever Jefferson Olacio and to 6-2 in the eighth on an RBI groundout by Walter Ibarra against reliever Kevin Vance.

Grant Backner added an RBI single in the ninth inning and finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored but itwasn't enough as the Barons fell to 51-61 and 22-20 in the second half while Chattanooga improved to 42-69 and 16-25 in the second half.

The Barons will look to rebound tomorrow afternoon as RHP Chris Bassitt (0-0, 0.00) takes the hill against LHP Chris Reed (4-8, 3.32). First pitch is scheduled for 1:15 PM CDT.
