Jackson Generals News Release

JACKSON, TENN. - The Montgomery Biscuits (22-21, 57-56) used a pair of two-run home runs in a 4-3 victory over the Generals (18-24, 49-62) on Saturday. With the loss Jackson fell to 7-19 in one-run games and are 4-14 on Saturdays. Despite the loss, Jackson remains just four games out in the North Division standings.

Montgomery cracked the scoreboard first as Cameron Seitzer launched his second home run of the series and 14th home run of the season, a two-run shot to give the Biscuits the early 2-0 lead after half an inning.

In the top of the fourth the Biscuits picked up their second two-run long ball of the night as Richie Shaffer went deep for the second time in the series and the lead ballooned to 4-0.

Jackson was not phased as they scored their first run of the night in the bottom of the fourth as D.J. Peterson (0x3, R, RBI, BB) added an RBI groundout that scored Leon Landry (0x3, R, BB) from third to make the score 4-1.

Two innings later Pat Kivlehan (2x3, RBI, BB) singled with two on and no outs to bring home Ketel Marte (2x4, R). Jordy Lara (1x4, RBI) followed two batters later with another hit to score Peterson and the Generals had trimmed the Biscuits lead to 4-3.

Stephen Landazuri (3-2, 3.18) was the hard-luck loser on the night for Jackson, as he went 7.0 innings and allowed four runs on five hits. He also struck out three, but he made two mistakes as he gave a pair of two-run home runs. His three-game win streak on the mound came to an end.

Albert Suarez (3-2, 2.40) earned the win for Montgomery, allowing only one run on two hits in 5.0 innings of work. Cory Burns tossed a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his fourth save of the season.

The Generals will attempt to even the series again Sunday against the Biscuits. Jackson will send Victor Sanchez (5-4, 3.59) to the mound as Grayson Garvin (0-5, 3.46) will make the start for Montgomery. Sunday, is Family Fun Day. The game will begin at 6:05 p.m. and can be heard on 96.5 ESPN, TuneIn Radio and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
