PEARL, MS -- Jose Peraza singled and stole second and third to set up a Mycal Jones walkoff sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth as the Mississippi Braves claimed a 1-0 victory over the Mobile BayBears Saturday at Trustmark Park. The series continues Sunday at 5:00 PM.

The two clubs took a scoreless game into the ninth with the Braves never reaching third base in the first eight frames. Peraza delivered a one-out single to right field before swiping second and then third uncontested. Jones followed with the game-winning sacrifice to left-center.

Mississippi (24-19, 63-49) scored one run on five hits while Mobile (25-16, 67-43) managed just four hits. Mobile managed to get a runner to third in the first but a ground out ended the inning. The BayBears also loaded the bases in the third with two outs but did not score.

Neither starter factored in the pitcher's duel. Williams Perez held the BayBears to four hits and two walks in seven innings pitched. He struck out six batters. A.J. Schugel worked eight innings for the BayBears, holding the Braves to four hits while fanning seven batters.

Andrew Robinson (3-0) tossed the final two innings to claim his third victory. He walked one and struck out three. Jimmie Sherfy (3-1) took the loss, giving up one earned run on one hit in two-thirds of an inning.

In game four of this five-game series Sunday, M-Braves right-hander Ryan Weber (4-4, 4.54) counters righty Bradin Hagens (8-5, 4.17). First pitch is slated for 5:00 PM. Gates open at 4:00 PM.
