KODAK - The Chicago Cubs announced a series of transactions that impacts their Double-A affiliate Tennessee Smokies roster prior to tonight's game against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at Smokies Stadium.

Right-handed starting pitcher C.J. Edwards has been activated from the Disabled List and is expected to start tonight for the Smokies. Prior to being placed on the Disabled List on April 30, South Carolina native posted a 1-0 record and 2.61 ERA (6 ER in 20.2 IP) in four starts with Tennessee.

In a corresponding move, right-handed reliever Zach Cates has been placed on the Disabled List retroactive to July 31. In 17 relief appearances for the Smokies this season, the 24-year-old has compiled a 2-1 tally and 3.74 ERA (9 ER in 21.2 IP), adding 20 strikeouts.

Tennessee's active roster stands at 25.

Edwards is set to face the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, this evening at 6:15 p.m. at Smokies Stadium. The Blue Wahoos are expected to counter Edwards with RHP Jon Moscot (5-10, 3.38) in the third game of the series.
