PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Birmingham Barons (23-19, 50-61) jumped out to a four-run lead but fell to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (23-21, 61-53) by a 7-4 final Monday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium.

Barons starter Tanner Banks retired the first 12 batters he faced, which included six strikeouts, and was staked to a 4-0 lead before Pensacola plated five runs in the fifth. Birmingham also surrendered a 5-0 lead in a loss Thursday night.

Damek Tomscha got the Barons on the board in the third when he sent an RBI-single to center to plate Joel Booker. The former Auburn standout owns a .377 clip at the plate with 13 RBI across his past 14 contests.

Birmingham added three more runs in the top half of the fifth to take a 4-0 advantage. Zach Remillard delivered a solo shot to left for his first home run at the Double-A level to double to the lead, while a pair of groundouts rounded out the frame.

Pensacola's Ryan Costello broke Banks' perfect stretch with a leadoff single in the fifth. The Blue Wahoos went on to score five runs in the frame, including a stretch in which five batters reached base in a span of six at-bats.

Banks (L, 1-6) suffered the loss and remained winless since a June 6 victory vs. Jackson. The 27-year-old left-hander allowed five runs (four earned) on four hits and walked a pair in 4.2 innings of work.

Blue Wahoos left-hander Charlie Barnes (W, 3-3) collected the win despite the slow start. He surrendered four runs (two earned) on seven hits across five innings.

The Barons used a trio of relievers to stay within striking distance as right-handers Danny Dopico (1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER), Luis Martinez (1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER) and Vince Arobio (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER) combined to allow two runs in 3.1 innings.

Birmingham could not muster a comeback, however, despite the leadoff man reaching base in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.

Pensacola's Jonathan Cheshire recorded his second save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth.

The Barons concluded their 2019 season series against the Blue Wahoos with six wins in 11 games, despite dropping the five-game series in Pensacola by a 4-1 margin.

Birmingham will return home to face the North Division-leading Montgomery Biscuits for a five-game series beginning Wednesday night. The Barons will send right-hander Lincoln Henzman (2-5, 5.95) to the mound in the opener.

First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m CT at Regions Field and the game will be broadcast via WJQX-FM 100.5.
