BIRMINGHAM, AL - First baseman Jake Peter posted three RBIs and designated hitter Eudy Pina launched his second home run of the season, but the Birmingham Barons were defeated 7-4 by the Chattanooga Lookouts in front of 7,192 fans in the 21st annual Rickwood Classic at Rickwood Field.

The Barons are now 9-12 in Rickwood Classic history, having dropped the last three tribute games at historic Rickwood Field. Birmingham is now 3-2 against Chattanooga in the Classic. Today's attendance marked the ninth largest crowd in 21 Rickwood Classic games.

Peter started the scoring for Birmingham in the fourth inning, plating Adam Engel after the Barons center fielder started the frame with a leadoff double. A leadoff homer from Eudy Pina in the bottom of the seventh further cut the Lookouts lead to 4-2, but Chattanooga countered with a pair of runs in the eighth inning off reliever Peter Tago to extend their lead.

A two-RBI double from Peter in the eighth inning scored Engel and Keenyn Walker to once again bring the Barons within two, but Chattanooga came up with a ninth inning insurance run to reach today's 7-4 final score.

Barons starter Jordan Guerrero fell two 2-2 on the season, giving up four runs in the second inning as part of the loss. He walked two batters and recorded no strikeouts. Tago closed the game, surrendering three earned runs in two innings of work. He leads the Southern League with 17 games finished this season.

White Sox no. 1 prospect Carson Fulmer returns to the mound at Regions Field as the Barons and the Lookouts battle in a Thirsty Thursday tilt tomorrow evening. In his lone start this season against Chattanooga, Fulmer recorded his first professional victory by tossing six shutout innings and recording six strikeouts.
