Lancaster Stormers News Release

Brian Cavazos-Galvez went 5-for-5, and Bryan Woodall threw eight shutout innings on Friday evening to lead the Lancaster Barnstormers to a 13-0 victory over the York Revolution at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

The rout gave the Barnstormers a 10-9 lead in the current War of the Roses and kept Lancaster within one-half game of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in the second half race.

Yusuke Kajimoto doubled off Frank Gailey (1-2) to lead off the game and scored from third on a one-out single to left by Cavazos-Galvez.

Cavazos-Galvez homered in the third for a 2-0 edge, had the second of three singles in a two-run fifth inning, added an infield hit to the hole at shortstop in the sixth and picked up the second of five hits in a six-run eighth.

Zach Collier tacked on three hits for the Barnstormers and scored twice. Mike McDade also collected three of Lancaster's 17 hits while Luke Hughes and Kent Matthes added two each.

Hughes capped the Barnstormers' attack with a grand slam over the center field wall off lefty reliever Javier Machuca in the eighth.

Woodall (3-4) followed his six shutout innings against York on Sunday with a similar outing. For the second consecutive matchup, the Revs failed to score a run, get an extra base hit, or draw a walk against the Lancaster right-hander.

Twice in the game, Eric Patterson and Brandon Boggs knocked out consecutive two-out singles, but Woodall retired Bryan Pounds for the final out of the frame on both occasions.

York came closest to scoring in the third. Still down only, 1-0, the Revs picked up a leadoff single from Mikey Reynolds. Wilson Valdez advanced the runner to second with a bunt. Patterson ripped a ground ball toward the hole on the right side. McDade deflected the smash with his glove. Kajimoto raced into the hole, fished the ball and got the throw off to Woodal for the out on Patterson. Reynolds raced home, attempting to score, and Woodall made a perfect toss to Keith Castillo, who laid the tag on to finish the inning.

The series continues on Saturday evening. Logan Williamson (3-6), a left-hander will start for York against former Giants and Mets' lefty Pat Misch, who will make his Atlantic League debut for the Barnstormers. Fireworks will follow the game. Fans may tune into 1390-AM, WLAN; rumba1390.com or the I Heart Radio cell phone app, beginning at 6:45.
