Paul O'Neill to Guest Manage Bridgeport Bluefish on July 24

(Bridgeport, Conn. - July 17, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced that Paul O'Neill will guest manage the team for one game on Friday, July 24th at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, CT, presented by Kia Motors America, Inc. and the Connecticut Kia Dealers. O'Neill, a five-time World Series Champion and Major League All-Star, will don a professional baseball uniform once again, this time for the Bridgeport Bluefish, as they square off against the Long Island Ducks. The former Yankee slugger will also be available for a special meet-and-greet with fans before the game.
"On the heels of Pete Rose's appearance last season and the Legends game earlier this month, we are excited to bring another highly recognized baseball legend to Bridgeport," says Bluefish General Manager Jamie Toole. "We encourage everyone to come out to the Ballpark on July 24th to experience this special occasion."
O'Neill retired from professional baseball in 2001 after playing in the World Series with the Yankees. Since his retirement, O'Neill has served as an analyst on the New York Yankees Pre-Game Show and the New York Yankees Post Game Show, as well as a color commentator for the YES Network.
Paul O'Neill played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball with the Cincinnati Reds (1985-1992) and the New York Yankees (1993-2001). He is a five-time World Series Champion (1990, 1996, 1998-2000) as well as a five-time Major League All-Star (1991, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998). In 1994, he led the American League in batting average with a .359 mark. In 2,053 career Major League appearances, O'Neill owns a .288 batting average with 281 home runs, 1,269 RBI, and 1,041 runs scored.
Prior to the game, the Bluefish will host a private meet-and-greet with Paul O'Neill in the Karma Club at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard from 5:00pm - 6:00pm. Those who attend this event will have a photo opportunity with O'Neill as well as receive an autograph from the former Yankee. The cost to attend this event is $75 per person and a very limited amount of space is available.
