Lancaster Stormers News Release

Only rain stopped the Barnstormers on Thursday night.

Before the downpour hit, the Barnstormers torched Road Warriors pitchers for 20 hits, including four home runs, on the way to a 19-4 victory at Clipper Magazine Stadium. It was the 16th straight loss for the Road Warriors and the third consecutive win for Lancaster.

Aaron Herr lofted a three-run homer onto the picnic deck in the first inning and matched it with a controversial three-run shot down the left field line in the sixth.

In between, Tommy Everidge clubbed a two-run blast to center, and Fernando Seguignol dropped a solo homer out of the cloud bank and onto the picnic deck.

Yunior Novoa (5-3) fell behind, 2-0, in the top of the first on an opposite field homer by Michael Mooney. No worries.

Gilberto Mejia led off the bottom of the first with an infield single off the leg of starter Jason Norderum (2-5). Wayne Lydon hit a sinking liner to center that skipped away from Adrian Ortiz. Tommy Everidge's soft liner on the right side skipped past Marcos Cabral for a third straight hit. After Seguignol flied to right, Travis Metcalf launched a fly ball to the wall in right center. Lydon was stopped at third, but Everidge headed to third, and Metcalf advanced toward second. Lancaster sacrificed Lydon for the second out.

Herr followed with his three-run homer, and Lancaster never looked back. Everidge's two-run homer over the batter's eye in the second made it 6-2.

The Road Warriors picked up one run in the top of the fourth, but the Barnstormers pulled away in the bottom of the inning. Lydon singled with one out, chasing Norderum. After a steal and throwing error got Lydon to third, both Everidge and Seguignol walked to load the bases. Travis Metcalf's grounder skipped under third baseman Joe Jiannetti's glove for an error as two runs scored. Brandon Jones tacked on two more with a single to left center as the Barnstormers went up, 10-3.

Herr deposited the last pitch of the night onto the walkway in left field for his second three-run homer.

The umpires waited the required 30 minutes and no more to bring the game to a merciful conclusion.

Lancaster hosts the Road Warriors again on Friday evening. J.D. Durbin (7-2) will take the hill for the Barnstormers against right-hander Luke Massetti (7-11). Fireworks will follow the 7:00 game which will be aired on Fox Sports Radio, 1490, WLPA and streamed live on sportsjuice.com and ibnsports.com.
