Barnstormers Open Free Agency with Two Signings

DES MOINES - The Arena Football League's open free agency period began on Monday, and the Iowa Barnstormers wasted no time making a splash as Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Mike Hohensee announced that the team has agreed to terms with quarterback Ossar Rasshan and Fullback Brian Holley.

Rasshan (6-4, 225) played his college football at UCLA from 2005-09. He spent much of his tenure at UCLA as their backup quarterback, however he did see action in several games in the 2007 season. During that time, 17 of 45 pass attempts for 259 yards, while also rushing for 140 yards on 30 attempts. Rasshan is known for his versatility as he also spent time as a wide receiver while at UCLA. The native of Fontana, CA lettered four years in football at Gary High School in Ponoma, CA from 2001-04.

Holley (5-10, 235) appeared in 36 career games at the University of California from 2005-09, making 9 starts as a fifth-year senior. In his career he compiled 6 catches for 80 yards, while rushing for 8 yards on 3 attempts. Holley was also a standout on special teams and a key blocker in the potent Cal rushing attack. He is a native of Pamona, CA where he is an alumnus of Diamond Ranch High School.

When asked to comment on the two new additions, Coach Hohensee stated "Osaar is an exceptional athlete from UCLA that we hope will develop into a quality quarterback in this league. We are excited about him coming to Iowa and competing for a job. Meanwhile, Brian Holley is a player who jumps off the screen as soon as the film goes on. He was a great blocker at Cal and showed the ability to both run and catch the ball effectively as well".

With the additions of Rasshan and Holley, the Barnstormers now have 4 players under contract for the 2012 season. Expect more announcements from Coach Hohensee and the Barnstormers in the coming days.
