
Bannister named Pitcher of the Week

Tides starting pitcher Brian Bannister has been named the International League Pitcher of the Week.
Bannister went 1-0 with a 1.54 ERA in two starts for the Tides during the week of August 15 - August 21. The right-hander allowed just two runs on 12 hits in 11.2 innings of work, walking three and striking out 15.
Bannister, who was selected in the 7th round of the 2003 draft out of USC, is 4-1 with a 2.97 ERA in seven games started for the Tides ths year. He began the 2005 season at Double-A Binghamton, where he was 9-4 with a 2.56 ERA and 94 strikeouts before being promoted after the All-Star Break.
Former Tide Ty Wigginton, now with the Indianapolis Indians, was named the IL Batter of the Week.
