Norfolk Tides News Release
August 22, 2005 - Norfolk was held to just one run on six hits as they fell to the Buffalo Bisons 3-1 Monday night at Harbor Park.
Buffalo starter Steve Watkins (7-2) held the Tides in check for 6.0 innings, allowing one run on five hits while walking four and striking out five. The only blemish on Watkins' line was a solo home run allowed to Chase Lambin in the second inning.
With the score tied 1-1 in the sixth inning, former Tide Javier Cordona hit a two-run double, giving the Bisons a 3-1 lead.
Norfolk would threaten to tie the score several times throughout the game, but left 11 men on base as they lost to the Bisons for the 7th time in 8 games this season.
Tides starter Yusmeiro Petit took the loss in his Triple-A debut. The 20-year-old right hander allowed three runs on eight hits in 6.0 innings of work, walking three and striking out six.
The Tides are off on Tuesday night before returning to action on Wednesday night vs. the Toledo Mud Hens. Game time from Harbor Park is set for 7:15 p.m.
