Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
DAVENPORT----, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits dropped the third game of the four game set with the Peoria Chiefs, 6-5. The Bandits put a two spot on the scoreboard in the eighth but it wasn't enough for Quad Cities to take their sixth straight from Peoria.
Michael Blazek (2-2) struggled in his fifth start as he couldn't make it out of the first inning. He went just two-thirds of an inning surrendering two runs on three hits. Chris Notti stopped the bleeding for the Bandits going two and a third innings for the Bandits without allowing a run. Jorge Rondon (2-2) was charged with his second loss of the season giving up four runs on eight hits. Robert Whitenack (3-3) picked up his third win by pitching six strong, surrendering three runs on three hits. Jordan Latham (8) chalked up his eighth save by retiring four of the final five Bandit hitters.
Niko Vasquez and Jason Stidham provided all of the offense for the Bandits in Sunday's match-up. Vasquez went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, his team leading sixth of the season. Vasquez also drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in the third. Jason Stidham added a two-run double in the third on his 1-for-3 afternoon.
Quad Cities tries to take the series from the Chiefs on Monday. Shelby Miller (1-3) is scheduled to face-off with fellow right-hander Nick Struck (2-4) in the Monday morning contest. The gates of Modern Woodmen Park open at 9:30 a.m. with first pitch set for 11 a.m.

ABOUT THE BANDITS: The Quad Cities River Bandits open the 2010 season by unveiling their brand new state-of-the-art field, which not only looks fantastic but should also minimize the number of rainouts this year. The team set a new post-renovation mark for single-season attendance in 2009, as 236,401 fans passed through the turnstiles for an average of 3,694 fans per game. Both figures marked the highest since 1995, while the average attendance was the third highest in franchise history and the total attendance was the fifth highest all-time. The total attendance was up 14 percent over the 2008 season, continuing a 59 percent attendance increase since Main St. Iowa purchased the franchise following the 2007 season. Ticket sales, concessions, merchandise sales, sponsorships and even Kids' Zone revenues were all up over 2008, which was one of the team's best in history! Season and group ticket deposits for 2010 are currently being accepted.
